About the Image

Donald Trump interests me as one of the most expressive and recognizable political figures of our time. His face, gestures, public presence, and ability to provoke sharply contrasting reactions make him a compelling subject for portraiture.

Through paint, I sought to move beyond the familiar media photograph and create a direct psychological encounter between the subject and the viewer. The American flag and restrained patriotic elements place the portrait within its historical context, while the visible brushwork preserves the personal and interpretive nature of the painting.

DIRECT FROM THE ARTIST

This is a Limited edition print on paper by Damian Kaliyeski, offered directly by the artist through Emperor’s Treasury in New York.

The print is one of a limited edition of 30 prints. The original image was conceived and painted entirely by the artist. This print is individually numbered and hand-signed by the artist.

His background in traditional painting, restoration, and art history informs a body of work that combines classical craftsmanship with a contemporary and highly personal vision.

BIOGRAPHY
Chaval (Damian Octavio Kaliyeski) was born in Buenos Aires in 1975 and moved to New York City in 1999. Formally trained in drawing and painting from an early age, he has worked for more than twenty-five years as a visual artist, painting restorer, and researcher in art and antiques.
His direct experience with historical paintings, traditional materials, and restoration has deeply informed his artistic practice. His work combines classical craftsmanship and figurative painting with theatrical settings, personal symbolism, and a distinctly contemporary vision.
In 2003, Chaval received an Artist Achievement Award presented by Charlotta Kotik, then Curator and Chair of the Department of Contemporary Art at the Brooklyn Museum of Art.
Today, his paintings continue to explore the dialogue between art history and contemporary imagery. Each work is conceived and painted individually by the artist and exists as a unique original.

A NOTE FROM THE ARTIST

Thank you for taking the time to view my work.

Each of my paintings begins with an image or idea that captures my attention and gradually develops through the physical process of painting. I work primarily in oils, using traditional materials and techniques while allowing each work to find its own visual language.

I am personally available through eBay Messages to answer questions about the painting, its creation, condition, presentation, or shipping.
